Our story begins...
In the summer of 2013, Kimberly and Troy met on DePauw University's campus. They both took jobs on campus so they could earn easy money while spending quality time with friends. One night at a party, Troy asked Kimberly to be his assistant DJ depsite having plenty of experience through his fraternity. He then offered for her to join him in walking a dog around campus. Kimberly was thrilled to say yes. For the next several weeks, Troy and Kimberly were inseparable. They decided to make their relationship official the day after Kimberly’s 21st birthday: July 16, 2013.
The following year...
The school year following that summer was filled with Beta/Theta events, Rocky Horror performances, football tailgates, late-night study sessions, countless McDonalds runs, and staying up all night talking more times than they should. In May 2014, Kimberly graduated DePauw with plans to start graduate school in the fall. Meanwhile, Troy still had one year left at DePauw. They looked at the next year as an opportunity to perfect long-distance until it felt as easy as being in a short-distance relationship.
The story continues...
Throughout 2016, Troy and Kimberly embraced a lot of changes. They both graduated for the last time, started their first “real” jobs, moved to apartments with close friends, and supported each other as they managed stresses that come with big life changes. The conversation of feeling ready for marriage followed seamlessly as the next logical step. All they needed now was the right timing, a ring and a question.
